FAQs
I charge Rs.1500 for a 60 minutes session.
This varies for individuals and depends on different factors such as kind of concerns you are experiencing, severity of those concerns, duration for which you have been experiencing those concerns, root-causes of the concerns, your willingness to change, your efforts towards bringing those changes, etc.
Therapy is not magic rather it is hard work because it can be hard – to sit through pain, to develop awareness about our patterns, to realise some things about ourselves and/or the people around us, to make change, and to grieve loss because change always comes with loss of something old. All of this takes time for you and your therapist to identify, and to find ways to bring a change as well as to act upon them.
What you gain from therapy depends on different factors such as your therapy goals and your therapist can tell you more about that. But, some common aspects one can gain from therapy include (but not limited to) self-awareness and capacity to self-reflect, better understanding of your concerns and their root-causes, healthy coping skills (such as being able to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, communication skills, drawing healthy boundaries, etc.), reducing distress associated with past experiences, emotional reprocessing of past experiences, etc.
Therapy can be uncomfortable or mentally exhausting sometimes, especially the first few sessions. It could also be that you may feel worse before you start feeling better. A reason for it can be that we share a lot of distressing experiences and unpack things that we may have boxed and kept aside, and talking about them can bring back a lot of distressing thoughts, emotions, sensations and unpleasant memories. Another reason could be that the first few sessions are generally used to understand your concerns before the work starts.
It is also normal for you to not gain something from each session – each session forms a foundation for the consequent sessions. Therapy is a process, and lows or discomfort in therapy are part of the healing process. With the right therapist for you, the overall graph will be upwards.
