Frequently Asked Questions

I offer a free 15 minutes pre-therapy consultation call over the phone. This call can be used to understand whether I would be a good fit to work with the concerns you wish to bring to therapy. Over this call, I can share how therapy would look like with me and you can ask any questions or doubts you may have for me. Having this call with me does not obligate you to take my services in future, and you may book a session only if you feel comfortable working with me. You can book your free pre-therapy consultation call by reaching out to me on my Whatsapp number.
No, you do not necessarily need to take the free pre-therapy consultation call before booking a session.

I charge Rs.1500 for a 60 minutes session.

If you wish to directly book a session with me, you can do so by using the booking portal on the website. Once you book, I will share the intake form, meeting link, and payment details with you on Whatsapp. If you wish to speak to me before booking a session, you can book a free 15 minutes pre-therapy consultation call with me (read 1st FAQ for more info on this).
The first session will be focused upon getting to know you better and to understand your concerns in depth. This helps in forming a foundation to work upon your concerns in the consequent sessions. We will also collaboratively form therapy goals and a treatment plan to achieve those goals.

This varies for individuals and depends on different factors such as kind of concerns you are experiencing, severity of those concerns, duration for which you have been experiencing those concerns, root-causes of the concerns, your willingness to change, your efforts towards bringing those changes, etc.

Therapy is not magic rather it is hard work because it can be hard – to sit through pain, to develop awareness about our patterns, to realise some things about ourselves and/or the people around us, to make change, and to grieve loss because change always comes with loss of something old. All of this takes time for you and your therapist to identify, and to find ways to bring a change as well as to act upon them.

The recommended gap between two sessions is 7 days so that we meet on the same day every week. But, it can be shorter (4-5 days) and longer (9-10 days) as well depending upon your schedule and feasibility, and the urgency of your needs.
You can cancel or reschedule a session 24 hours in advance of the session time without any charges. If you miss a session without cancelling, or if you cancel or reschedule a session with less than 24 hours’ notice, 50% payment for that session will be collected.

What you gain from therapy depends on different factors such as your therapy goals and your therapist can tell you more about that. But, some common aspects one can gain from therapy include (but not limited to) self-awareness and capacity to self-reflect, better understanding of your concerns and their root-causes, healthy coping skills (such as being able to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, communication skills, drawing healthy boundaries, etc.), reducing distress associated with past experiences, emotional reprocessing of past experiences, etc.

Therapy can be uncomfortable or mentally exhausting sometimes, especially the first few sessions. It could also be that you may feel worse before you start feeling better. A reason for it can be that we share a lot of distressing experiences and unpack things that we may have boxed and kept aside, and talking about them can bring back a lot of distressing thoughts, emotions, sensations and unpleasant memories. Another reason could be that the first few sessions are generally used to understand your concerns before the work starts.

It is also normal for you to not gain something from each session – each session forms a foundation for the consequent sessions. Therapy is a process, and lows or discomfort in therapy are part of the healing process. With the right therapist for you, the overall graph will be upwards.
